Time for week 2 (which is really week 3) high school football. Some of the favorites are beginning to shake out while we have at least one more benchmark game this week and one game a school needs to get the season turned around.
Here are some of the games. Feel free to add your favorites also.
Odessa - Coronado...Broncos and Mustangs won't horse around. Should be an interesting game. I'll put my two-bits on Ohhhhdessa.
Monterey - Permian...Ratliff Stadium is a tough place to beat the Black and White of Mojo. Too tough...Too Much MoJo.
Tascosa - Amarillo...Better get there early, a full house is guaranteed. Throw away records, stats but keep the mother-in-law as they will mean nothing here. Hell week begins and ends with this one...The bragging rights will go to Tascosa.
Hereford - Dumas...Ding, Dong Demons Don't Do it....Whitefaces stampede.
Big Spring - Pampa...The Harvesters will continue their perfect string with their third consecutive loss....Steers stampede.
Estacado - Snyder...This could be one of the better games in the area. I'm putting my money on Estacado.
Muleshoe - Cooper...Benchmark...can Muleshoe dominate Cooper like Bushland did? Probably not, but they will get the W.
Bushland - Borger...Borger's two game win streak stops. Bulldogs bite into something they can't handle. The Falcons score 48 points again.
Randall - Perryton...Randall's offense has yet to score a point this season. While Perryton ain't no push over, the Raiders had better get it in gear and turned around or it will be a long season. I think Randall will bring the W home on the bus.
Gruver - Panhandle...Panhandle's homecoming...we know what kind of teams are scheduled for homecoming. Mums....er Panthers win.
Stratford - Spearman...This used to be somewhat of a rivalry. The Lynx don't have much to be a rival this year. Spearman very little and Eddie's team whatever it wants it to be.
Friona - River Road...This game screams benchmark. Strong teams in Districts 1 & 2, this will give an indication of what may happen come play-off time. A slobberknocker and a close pick. That means take the home team. Th' Road.
Wellington - Booker...Entering Booker you see a sign that says, "Next 9 Exits Booker, Texas". Booker will be happy to show Wellington any of those 9 to get them out of town as quickly as possible. Wellington...with big numbers, Booker...with 9 exits.
New Deal - Naz...'Ol Naz ain't what she used to be....'Ol New Deal iz....Lions lay the numbers on the Swifts.
Sunray - Vega...Sunray lights up the visitor side of the scoreboard. Vega is glad to turn out the lights and go home.
