Week three of the fourth week of high school football is here. There will be a number of interesting games this week. District 2-5A will begin to shape up after this week. The haves and have nots will start to emerge. Everyone else is still in their pre-district schedule.
Let's look at 20 games this week.
Midland - Lubbock...The Westerners caught Midland Lee thinking about something besides football. It was the second year in a row now Midland Lee coach was beaten by Lubbock. Last year he was coach of Monterey. BUT....the Westerners are done... Lee is a have...Lubbock a have not.
Coronado - Midland Lee...Probably real bad timing for the Mustangs to play Midland Lee, especially in Midland. I think Midland Lee and Coach Morton have something to prove. Sorry Coronado.
S.A. Central - Monterey...Monterey is still a little soft but Central has a way to go yet under coach Brent Davis. I'm taking the Plainsmen.
Odessa Permian - Amarillo High...This game will be close...the first quarter. Mojo blows off Sandstorm.
Caprock - Dalhart...I'm thinkin' the Rock on this one.
Plainview - Dumas...The Demons seem to be consistently inconsistent. Plainview has shown competitiveness. Dogs win.
Palo Duro - Hereford...Air Hereford rolls up the points. Dons downed.
Frenship - Randall...Randall keeps perfect streak going....loses another.
Estacado - Snyder...Finally here...I don't know what they feed'em in Snyder but they know how to play football. Estacado gets a gridiron lesson and receives the L for it.
Lubbock Cooper - Idalou...Short road trip for Cooper. Short end of score as well. What has been considered a good 3A team is having a lot of trouble with 2A schools...Bushland, Muleshoe and now Idalou....after this week they pick on people their own size and will probably be glad of it.
Perryton - Pampa...I understand the Pampa Band is outstanding. This one will be over at half time. Rangers go home with W.
Bushland - Stratford...The Bass Stadium won't be big enough. While I can't say this will be the best game in the area, it will darn sure be one of the most interesting. Two tough teams, one high ranked in 2A, the other in 1A. Both have legendary coaches putting together game plans. What do they have up their sleeves? This will be a game coaches watch. I will go with Bushland.
Panhandle - Sunray...The Bobcats of Sunray have some out of the chute as an impressive club. Although 2-1, Panhandle hasn't proved much. I think you'll see a Bobcat get a piece of a Panther.
San Jacinto - River Road...Th' Road rolls on.
Muleshoe - Crane...Some folks from Crane think they will win and predicting a 18 point victory. While the Mules may not be quite as good as last year, they will still kick the feathers off a Golden Crane.
Canadian - Shamrock...Begorra....I wouldn't call this game the Luck of the Irish....I would call it a scheduling mistake. Canadian will light up the scoreboard and leave the Irish to clean up the pieces.
Clarendon - Gruver...Gruver spoiled P-handle's homecoming last week. Clarendon will spoil Gruver's home game.
White Deer - Wheeler...We just may have some Wheeler of old raising from the ashes. I'll take the Mustangs.
Electra - Wellington...Another game to get Wellington ready for the playoffs. All stats will belong to the Skyrockets including the scoreboard.
What do you think about these games? Do you have another pick? Let's see it.
