My buddy had the Grand Opening of his Fireslice Brick Oven Pizzeria last night. It is in the old Cafe Bella, in the alley behind Jump-n-jive at Coulter and 34th. The food was a little slow to come out since it was the first night, but it was good. We had a big group with a bunch of kids that were pretty well behaved, an we were treated very well. We got one of each appetizer, and each was good. The wings I'd describe as gourmet, since they were the most perfectly fried morsels of any fried thing I've ever had. The sweet potato fries were good (could have been a little larger portion) and the green chili dipping sauce was so good we kept the leftover around to dunk pizza crusts in. The Americana is a BBQ pesto chicken pizza garnished with cilantro: it is my favorite. Those who remember Cafe Americana, it is a pesto recipe passed down from there. The green chili cheeseburger pizza was also great and left the perfect amount of heat lingering on the tongue. The Hot momma was good (meats and green chili, again) as was the Goodfella, which is a mixed meats pie. The 4 cheese plain pizza that we got for the kids could hardly escape the mouths of the adults is was so good. The Tommy boy is a white pizza with mushrooms that I saw on the next table, and I was instantly jealous that we didn't order it as well, it looked so good.
I may be biased because I know this family, but I think that they are going to do great (If patrons can find them).

Sounds like they have a well rounded menu. I love a good pesto.
