INTENTIONAL GROUNDING: D2 and the willful destruction of WT athletics That should be the real name of the new WT athletics book that you can buy or read online. issuu.com/thebooksmithgroup/docs/wtamu_final_lo_nocrops_10-01-08_v40This page right here speaks volumes about how some are still screwing over WT athletics. It's all about politics and a concerted attempt since the early 1970's to stop growth at WT. And the only reason Steve Graf lost as a WT football coach: He was told by the WT administration that only in-state recruits could receive a scholarship.

Readers should be aware all athletic scholarships must be funded by someone. An athletic scholarship does not mean it is free. The University fees, Athletic fund raisers, Booster Club or Booster created endowment funds are sources of monies for scholoarships. Out of state student athlete scholarships cost the same as one would pay as any out of state student and the tution fee is more expensive for out of state students. Thus, one must have additional monies for each out of state student athlete scholarship.
Lack of money has been the biggiest problem concerning the number of scholarships for out of state student athletes. You have to live within your means.
I do want WTAMU to have a competitive program. Some JUCO and DI transfers are necessary to play with the big kids on the block. I understand the recruiting of freshman to develop into players their 4th and 5th year. It is when you have to play freshman recruits, for whatever reason, their 1st and 2nd year on a consistent basis the program will suffer.
