ACU is an interesting case of a team with lots of good talent.
That is now starting to be dragged down by inferior quarterbacks.
I can see now that they should have brought in at least 1 experienced transfer QB.
Gale might be really good 2 years from now...
But with a proven transfer QB on the roster this year...ACU would still be undefeated.
WT has gotten a bit better...but still they beat a team with a VERY inexperienced QB.

"The Wildcats are serious about winning...
And started leaving WT behind 2 years ago...when WT changed its recruiting."
Quote above from the original conspiracy nut--West Texan. It's about time to rethink that ridiculous comment. Look who got left behind....certainly not the Buffs, and the Buffs will be even better next year with those poor freshmen and redshirts that West-Texan criticized. BTW, there is no group or individual telling Carthel or any other coach at WT who or where to recruit. Each coach, regardless of the sport, has complete control of his/her recruiting. Also there is no "smaller stadium crowd". The last thing anyone at WT or any booster group wants is reduced revenue. How stupid to even think anything so ludicrous.

I'm going back out again for the night... But you are going to have to post more than just words. Because it's documented in news print that WT wants to build a new smaller stadium. And 15,000 seats is a lot smaller than the 20,000 seats at Kimbrough. It's a stupid idea...but WT told the Globe News they want to do it. If the plans have changed...it has not made it into print. www.amarillo.com/stories/021408/wts_9602787.shtml

Here is another article from 11-28-07... Where it appears that McBroom is trying to say that he thinks smaller is better. And about revenue... WT was charging more for season tickets years ago...when we were playing at D1. So WT actually took a revenue cut by dropping to D2. www.amarillo.com/stories/112807/mor_9056909.shtml

Ticket prices may very well have been more at D1, but crowds were smaller.....That's why the move to D2....Revenue has increased from larger crowds and more promotions plus the efforts of the Buffalo Club which provides the bulk of scholarship money.....But so have expenses and scholarship costs....(So don't start on a move to D1...it's not happening and besides the NCAA has a moratorium on any moves now....)
To even think that the President, AD or anyone else wants smaller crowds to justify a smaller stadium requires a very creative imagination but makes no sense and is totally absurd.....The very last thing WT needs or wants is reduced revenue....That's what I mean by being a conspiracy nut....
The discussion about a new stadium or improvements to Kimbrough is academic at this point anyway.....There is no money for it now and WT has other priorities for all sports, including FB, before any can be spent on a FB stadium....So you don't have to cry yourself to sleep worrying about a smaller stadium any time soon.....You sound like a young guy, but you still may not be around long enough for anything major regarding a FB stadium....
So just relax and keep pounding on Obama....That's a good quality you have....I like that...
BTW, where do you get the crazy idea that the coaches are told who and where to recruit?(.....Please don't copy/paste an old Joe Kerbel article....That was forty years ago....) Have you ever asked one of the current coaches if he or she has any restrictions other than their budgets?..... If you haven't, you should......They can recruit all freshmen, if they want, or all jucos from Amarillo to Maine to Europe....It doesn't matter to the Pres, AD or anyone....Everyone has the same goal for all the sports: Have an outstanding, winning athletic program with good student-athletes and that is exactly what WT is doing!

It's in news print above here that McBroom wants a smaller stadium at WT. And so if McBroom does not want a smaller stadium...then he needs to correct himself in print. Yep...the WT AD has gone on the news record saying that he wants a smaller stadium. And everyone can read it. ***************************************************** And yep...I must be a young guy...because I graduated from West Texas State University. And I was shaking then WT prez Ed Roach's hand at graduation...back in the 1980's. And I lived in the dorm with the last of WT's D1 football players in the Don Davis D1AA days. And my next door neighbor in the dorm...was WT's Defensive Player Of the Decade For The 1980's. I started college at WT just a few months after Bill Yung left WT to go to UTEP. And you can ask former WT assistant coach Jack Welch about how I've seen WT football up close. Yep...I'm one of those young guys who has been watching WT football for almost 30 years. ***************************************************** And a statement that was not made by me.

Wow! 30 years....impressive. At least 50 years for me.....I was there as a kid when Buffalo Bowl opened.....Had classes with Duane Thomas, Mercury Morris and Jesse Powell, just to mention a few....So you still have a ways to go before you catch me....Hope you last that long.... As I said, you don't have to fret about a new smaller stadium or any major improvements to Kimbrough anytime soon....Just better hope Kimbrough doesn't cave in....Great venue to watch a game but so outdated...
What a a great time to be a Buffalo!....The best athletic program in the LSC and one of the top 5 in D2 thanks to a committed Prez & AD.....plus a great place to get an education....
See you at the VB game Saturday night and WBB Sunday....You are a loyal Buff supporter, so you will be there, won't you? I won't miss 'em!....Also what a chance for you to quiz Carthel about recruiting and give him pointers on jucos and ACU's recruiting....He's always there and willing to talk....

Sorry...but I'm not much for VB...though I do like it when the WT girls win.
So the Tech vs OSU game on TV won out last night.
I follow WT and Tech and OSU...and WT/Canyon/Amarillo could learn a lot from game day in Stillwater.
We even listened to some of the radio broadcast.
OSU had good radio guys and the WT guys are pretty good.
But KGNC takes a lot away from the broadcast with the crass commercialism.
It's great to NOT hear about Mayfield Crutcher & Sharpee after every 1st down.
And yes...Mayfield is an old friend from WT...who started college at the same time I did.
You can learn a lot from watching D1 that could be applied to make things better at WT.
