We are going out of town, up north to yankee land for Thanksgiving and I wanted to buy some bottles of novelty brands of hot pepper sauce to take with me.
I remember the Cattle Call in the mall had a big display of many different brands, and one in particular called "gringo killer" that I wanted to buy. When we got to the mall the place was closed with a sign saying they had gone out of business.
I had to settle for a trip to Gander Mountain for a couple of bottles of habanero bloody mary mix and then to United for a couple of jars of salsa from an Amarillo based manufactuerer, one of the labels said "butt hot" and it was about $8 bucks a jar.
Does anyone know of a place in Amarillo with a variety of hot pepper sauce I can foist upon a bunch of yankees? I suppose the Big Texan would have to have some for sale.
The wife and I celebrated our anniversary Saturday night by going to Sakura, the very first restaurant I went to when I interviewed for the job here in Amarillo and hadn't been back since. It was a very enjoyable experience again. The wife had lobster and I had the center cut filet. A very nice time and an excellent meal that I could afford about once every six years.
I will be returning with several cases of "Moose Drool" beer to foist on a bunch of southerners.

The Cattle Call Express on Paramount has also gone away. I guess they are concentrating on the remaining location at I-40 and Western. I don't know if they'd have the hot sauces there.
There was an old guy at the T-anchor flea market that has (had) tons of weird hot sauces. This was 1-2 years back at least, so I don't know if he's still there. His booth was right by the snack bar.

The married couple who started Cattle Call at the mall...retired several years ago.
They had hot sauce for sale...but I'm not sure if the current owners have done that.
I'm glad the current owners finally took the Texas flag down at the I-40 location.
It was getting quite dirty and ragged on the edges.
Not sure if it's still there...
But there was a store at the mall that sold Texas and country stuff.
That store had several kinds of hot sauce for sale.
And I agree that The Big Texan would probably be a good place to find hot sauce.

Cattle Call is not the place it once was. I went there a few days before the 4th of July with some friends and the quality of the food was way lower than it ever was when they were at Westgate Mall.

Speaking of hot stuff. I was at a Taste of Texas thing opening the State Fair in Dallas recently and someone had Habenero Honey for sale. I wish now I had bought a jar....for a conversation piece....darned if I would eat that.
