In 1980...WT beat Oklahoma State 20-19 in Stillwater. In 1981 and 1984...WT played at Iowa State...and was very competitive. vs Iowa State: 13-17 in 1981...and 0-14 in 1984...close games that made WT lots of money. Much better than D2 and boring LSC cross-over games...and having only 1 non-conference game. $500,000 up to a $1 Million is a lot of money that helps your entire athletic program. www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2009-09-02-smallschool_payoffs_N.htmAnd Texas Tech wants to start playing WT again...which means paying WT big money to show up. lubbockonline.com/stories/090609/spo_490259045.shtmlThese games also help your recruiting more more than games with East Central Oklahoma.

I like the idea of WT & TT playing, but where do you get the idea that Tech wants this? One article posted in the Lubbock paper by a journalist wishing for something doesn't really mean Tech wants it.

Regardless of who came up with the idea, It just makes a LOT of financial sense for both Tech and WT. - WT would get the guarantee money for playing at Lubbock.
- WT would have almost no travel expenses.
- Tech vs WT games would generate a lot of interest in Lubbock and Amarillo.
- WT could probably sell 15-20,000 tickets in Amarillo.
- The hotels and restaurants and gas stations in Lubbock would benefit greatly.
- Increased sales of game merchandise and concessions.
- A big football recruiting benefit for WT.
- Increased marketing awareness of Tech in Amarillo.
- Increased marketing awareness of WT in Lubbock.
- More WT fans in the stands than North Dakota would bring.

west texan, I'm agreeing with you that seeing WT & Tech play each other would be great!
But what I was getting at is you shouldn't take something a journalist writes, and make it sound like he's representing Texas Tech. To quote you, "And Texas Tech wants to start playing WT again..." & "And it seems that Texas Tech wants to start playing WT again". That's just not accurate as far as we know.
