... and welcome to Saltgrass Steakhouse, a decent if not redundant restaurant that I used to go to down in Houston.

I noticed Red Robin is shut down and the building for sale. I wondered if they were going to make it. Between the location and the absolute din in the place, the lousest place I have ever been in. When I was living in Billings, MT I lived three blocks from a Red Robin and loved going there, it was such a quiet relaxing atmosphere.

I wondered on the Red Robin because of the location.
And also because of the fact that I was in there one night with my parents...
And my burger wasn't good...and was a flat chewy processed patty.
*******************************************************
And I think this is also pointing out that...
The economy in Amarillo is not quite as good as they say it is.
Between the Globe News and Amarillo National Bank...you get an overly rosy economic viewpoint.
I think Amarillo National inflates Amarillo economic indicators to help their own business.
*******************************************************
The Amarillo economy is still far too retail and hourly wage oriented.
And the hundreds of salaried office jobs that Boone Pickens had downtown for Mesa Petroleum...
Have still not been replaced in Amarillo...all these years later.
*******************************************************
The call center workers and retail workers on Soncy are not the people who usually go to sit-down restaurants.

Not a big sea food person so I won't miss Joe's. Not surprised if Red Robin closes. Never could justify paying that much for a burger.

Red Robin is still open as of last night. The building next to it is for sale. It was a strip center/restaurant that never opened.

I remember seeing a sign that said Lion's Pride or something similar.
Never heard that name before...so maybe it's part of a chain from back east.
That must have been the restaurant that never opened.

I was driving just a few minutes ago...
And heard the Red Robin advertised on an Amarillo radio station.
But for the price...
I've had much better burgers at Chili's and Applebee's and Coyote Bluff.

I must have gotten the idea that Red Robin was closed when we went to the Country Barn last week. When we left, which was before 9:00PM I was making a left turn on to Soncy and saw the building was dark and no cars in the parking lot and a for sale sign by Coldwell Banker that from the angle I was looking appeared in front of the building. I was skeptical of the chances of that facility catching on in Amarillo from the one or two times I was there, so I assumed they were closed.

So, where is Saltgrass going to be? They have awesome beer bread, soup & salad. Kinda pricey though...especially for y'all that think Red Robin is expensive. LOL!

No, Red Robin is still open I was there Thurs and got chicken wings and french frys to go. Both real good. Fries , were those steak fries and the 'buffalo' wings were a tad spicy not fiery hot like everybody wants down here. You have to go thru the hotel parking lot to get back on Soncy unless you want to turn right on I-40 West and go way out, but, in my case where I live in Canyon I had to figure out how to get back on soncy and take it straight out south. Bad thing about people charging big price for hamburgers is everybody is just used to McDonald's cheapy burgers and don't want to pay over 2 bucks for anything . LOL My mother-in-law would never buy a dollar burger because she said "don't know what you could be eating might be rat meat". LOL she cracks me up.
