The timing of this is very suspicious. Telling us that the Gorillas are leaving...and in the very same article telling us that we are getting a downgrade with a junior team. You can tell that the Amarillo city commission timed all this to avoid comments...and they are just wanting everyone to automatically roll over and accept a lesser team. They knew the Gorillas were leaving and waited to tell it all to everyone after they had the lesser hockey team already lined up to come to town. And the comment below sounds like when WT tried to get us to accept Ronnie Jones and the local boys for WT football back in 2002. It sounds like they may have wanted this team to get local players. And why do they assume that anyone cares if they have local players or not? Because of this I will not be voting for Mayor McCartt or any of the current city commissioners again. This entire thing is very questionable for the city commission. Amarillo is too large of a town to be caught up in whether players are local or not. ************ Leave the local player stuff to high school sports. www.amarillo.com/stories/051910/new_news1.shtml

I'm sure the guy who wrote the comment probably wants us to think:
1. There is no difference between paid professional and un-paid amateur sports.
2. There is no difference between D1 and D2 college sports.
3. There is no difference between scholarship and non-scholarship college sports.
And we all know there is a difference.
