S. Dakota St success so far by going from D2 to D1

They came up from D2, and they are playing in the conference where WT played until the mid-80's.

They are just getting started in D1 but already

S. Dakota State is doing moderately successful D1AA-FCS @ only 2.3 times WT's current athletic budget.

Which means that D1AA-FCS should be well within WT's reach with some extra effort.

And just talking about moving up should improve WT's fund-raising over D2.

South Dakota State is coming on strong. They must have a lot of backing to expand their facilities like they have. I always got a kick out of the South Dakota team nicknames - the coyotes and the jackrabbits. Our ever so PC NCAA is making the U of North Dakota change its team nick from the Fighting Sioux to something more sensitive and less offensive. Oh how delicate. How about something enlightened - like the lesbians, or something on that order?

I think you'd would be surprised how the support would boom for WT moving to a higher level of play.

WT just talking about moving back up to D1 would increase fund-raising and interest.

I don't see what can be gained by WT spending 25 more years at the D2 level.

You can blame ESPN, but most people don't care about a D2 national championship.
