Is this road a dirt road entirely ? can't understand why if I'm going West on I-40 I see the sign saying soncy/Helium rd. I think why would a old dirt road be given special mention on I-40 I thought it was nothing but a dusty dirt road. remember I'm new down here.

That is called Helium Rd because north of I-40 on the very west end of the Boulevard. Is a group of abandoned gray buildings inside a chain-link fence. That was the old official U.S. Government top secret classified helium plant. I can neither confirm nor deny that they have frozen bodies of Roswell space aliens stored there. But since I told you the big national secret of Helium Rd...I will now have to kill you. ;D And the government sold that property to a guy who says he has no idea what he will do with it. search.amarillo.com/fast-elements....o&type=standardYou better hope I'm just kidding about the aliens in Amarillo.

most of them are in the burbs of Canyon. LOL
will read that link. Helium rd is a dusty old dirt road with nothing to say for it. I have to cross it at the 4 way stop out here at the burbs.

Some pics I took last Friday afternoon during a trip out to the Gander Mountain store. As you can see, the north end of Helium Road is paved up around the old helium processing plant. Can't believe the guy bought a bunch of old 1940's buildings that are mostly falling apart. I was able to poke my camera through a gate gap in the fence to take a shot of the sign. You could hear the wind whistling through the old corrugated tin siding.

Wish I could find Gander Mtn store. ad said "I-40 & Soncy" I say huh I've been on I-40 ten thousand times since I've moved here and never seen it up on I-40. So, when I was at Eyemart I asked the girls there "am I close to Gander Mtn?" they go "yeah, just take the access road and will take U right there don't even have to get on I-40". So, I'm thinking since eyemart is right there by 'on the border ' Mex place you just take the access road is what they mean but I still can't find it. LOL

To find Gander Mtn:
Go north on Soncy to I-40, and turn left, and keep going west on the access road.
The store is on the north side of I-40 at Helium Rd.
