This may make this message board a bit more valuable in Amarillo. Why? Because it has been noticed over the last couple of months or so by those who comment on articles. That the Amarillo Globe News is being very selective about which articles they alllow comments on. 1. You can't comment on this article: Ammunition slows firefighters' efforts www.amarillo.com/stories/080210/new_news5.shtml2. Or this article: Refinery incident injures 13 ConocoPhillips releases few details www.amarillo.com/stories/080210/new_news2.shtml3. But you can comment on this article: Long and winding road Abdullahi Shidad has come a long way since he left the cluttered neighborhoods and drape-covered homes that make up the Somalian refugee camps in Kenya. www.amarillo.com/stories/080210/new_news1.shtmlThe city commission has taken some comment heat lately on urban planning for downtown. And it will be interesting to see if the Globe News is going to let our city leaders be criticized again.

More examples today of how the Globe News has recently changed on their website. It's almost like they will now only allow comments on soft news, but they don't want comments on hard news stories. The Globe News is slowly taking away a forum for public discussion. 1. You can comment on this article: WT projects' funding OK'd: Sports complex, dorm planned www.amarillo.com/stories/080310/new_news1.shtml2. But you can't comment on this article: Men charged in rash of burglaries www.amarillo.com/stories/080310/new_news2.shtml
