I think it's good to expand our civic center into a convention center. But with the lack of transparency and backroom deals, Our city leaders and the publisher of the Amarillo Globe News are starting to smell a bit rotten. With how they are trying to keep things secret about how all this downtown stuff is being done. And as a "journalist" operating the Amarillo newspaper, Les Simpson should NOT be involved in the politics and business of how our downtown area is being run. Simpson and others have a huge conflict of interest in all this. And if they are not doing anything wrong, why has the Texas state attorney general said they should open the books? The state AG does not get involved for no reason. www.amarillo.com/stories/081110/new_news5.shtml

Wow....I hope they get to the bottom of this...Especially if our tax dollars are being used without a proper audit of the funds...

The mayor lady is married to a commercial real estate guy.
And you can see some signs around downtown that say McCartt.
So it's very obvious why she and the city commission have such an interest in downtown.
They should have been recruiting new business downtown 20 years ago.
But Amarillo didn't do that.
The current bunch are now more interested in making a future profit for themselves.
