Was driving early last evening, and heard a Texas Tech football ticket sale advertisement. This was on the Amarillo ESPN radio station at 1440 AM. I will be waiting and listening to hear the advertisements for WT football tickets. Get that WT football marketing in gear McBroom! I'm sick and tired of WT being out-marketed in it's own area. Most people don't have time to catch the sports at the very end of the TV news every day. And Amarillo needs to start thinking about WT football. Hopefully McBroom will do a better job of marketing this time around. Since we only heard WT football advertised on 1 radio station last year. And most Amarillo people don't listen to the political talk radio station.

Hey, I and most of the people I know listen to the "political talk radio station" (710 AM) and also to 940 AM......Seldom to 1440 unless it's broadcasting a high school game.....The talk radio stations are certainly more informative than ESPN or the rock stations.....If no one listens to talk radio, then why are Rush, Hannity & Beck the most popular radio programs in America?

Willard sez, "If no one listens to talk radio, then why are Rush, Hannity & Beck the most popular radio programs in America?"
I think their popularity is dropping. Their conservative views have pushed so far to the right they border on radical. Too far from the middle of the road for me. I no longer find them interesting. I find them attempting to increase the partisan approach to politics.
In short, I question if they are really good for the country.

I listen to talk radio all the time, but then I'm conservative and mid-40's.
I don't listen to Rush only because I don't like his presentation.
But I listen to Michael Medved on KGNC 710 AM and Sean Hannity and Jerry Doyle on 940 AM.
>>>> And I can pretty much assure you that very few under 40, and almost no women listen to talk radio.
Ed Harris had WT commercials running on FM music stations in 2005.
Canyon boy McBroom killed all that, and most other WT sports marketing.
>>>> KGNC has a big reputation for being the old man's station.
And the only WT radio advertising is KGNC advertising that the cover WT games.

>>>> Women and people under 40 are listening to music on the radio.
10 years ago, I listened to nothing but music on the radio, and thought KGNC was old fashioned.
Until a few years ago, the only reason I ever listened to KGNC was for WT football games.
>>>> Most people don't want to hear politics on the radio, and want music to relax.
And most of the people I went to WT with in the 80's...only care about D1.
WT has to learn to appeal to late-20's and 30's and 40's age group people.
Or WT is going to end up with very few fans in the future.

In short, I question if they are really good for the country. Talk radio is about the only place where you can get the truth about what Obama and the Democrats are doing to our country. But women and most people under 40 only listen to music. I listen to music and ESPN radio to get away from politics, if I want to relax. My friends would probably peg me as a nerd for listening to political talk radio.

The big point I'm making is:
That WT is fine with game broadcasts on KGNC 710 AM.
But WT definitely needs to start advertising on the music stations that most people listen to.
And that WT has got to start appealing more to 20's and 30's and 40's age group people.
Or WT will find itself short of fans in a few years.

I almost forgot, but I was driving this evening.
And at about 6:25 pm:
Texas Tech was advertising basketball season ticket sales on the Amarillo ESPN radio station.
WT is missing out on some good money that they were making with D1 basketball years ago.
No one can say that WT is better off at D2.
When they were making a lot more money at D1 in the Amarillo Civic Center.

I was driving home a while ago. And was listening to Amarillo ESPN radio on 1440 AM KPUR. When the Sunday afternoon Amarillo Bulls hockey game broadcast started. I notice that Wayland Baptist University in Plainview is one of the sponsors. Interesting advertising idea for Wayland. And I'm still waiting for WT to pull its head out and start advertising on Amarillo ESPN radio. ;D When it comes to marketing and advertising...WT usually plays catch-up to everyone else. Even Texas Tech advertises on Amarillo ESPN radio...right in WTAMU's own backyard.
