Anybody know how to stop a squeaking water spigot? spigot on the side of house is next to my bedroom window and when he waters the back patio grass at the crack of dawn it wakes me up. LOL I hit it hard with WD-40 and doesn't faze it. Any suggestions? besides shooting the man. LOL ;D

So it's squeaking when the faucet handle is turned?
May not be anything that can be done, since the faucet needs to be tight to turn off the flow.
Usually the running water is what makes the most noise on an outside house faucet.

yeah, when he turns the knob it's like a squealing rat LOL hooked up to a water hose. Maybe I need a different type of oil. WD-40 doesn't do any good at all. maybe I need 3 in 1 brand.

It may be time to have it replaced. A plumber can put a new one on in just a few minutes. Relatively cheap...for having to hire a plumber. Hmmmm, can you tell I had one replaced this Summer? I came home one day and the water was running. The faucet was stripped. Apparently that happens over time.

OK Here is what I would do (from a man's view). I would get up before he does, cook him his favorite breakfast. Feed it to him in bed and rub his feet while he eats. Then at that time when you have him right where you want him, ask him in your sweetest voice if he would have time to change out the spigot today. If he says no, then call a plumber.
P.S. Don't hold it against him if he doesn't have time, he is a busy man.

A house just completed in April - have the builder replace it. Sounds like a bad design or something inside the valve causing a restriction in the flow of water which is most likely making the noise. WD40 is for metal against metal friction, won't do anything about this problem. One thing that may have a bearing on this and something you really can't do anything about is the water pressure in your neighborhood and that is determined by your distance from the water tower.

Speaking of water - how have your water bills been this summer? I had a couple of broken sprinkler heads replaced and got a $130 dollar water bill that month. Since the heads were fixed I have received two additional $130 dollar water bills - WTF? Is the city too lazy to read the meter or have rates gone up? I have checked and rechecked the amount of watering I am doing and have even gone to the alley and shut the water off and then slowly opened the valve and listened closely if I could hear water rushing but didn't hear it flow at all. That is about 4 times as much as it usually is - and extremely hot summer month with little rainfall used to cause a water bill of $60 dollars and change.

We don't have any water bills. Everybody has their own water wells. We can water the lawn, wash the car, do anything we want for 'free'. You pay when you build the house for them to come out and dig your own well and put in your own septic tank. Your your own little utility. I could never have a jacuzzi up in Ind. because tite arse would holler our water bill would be out of this world it was usually 35 a month 'cept one time the computer made an error and it was 50,000 ! husband is still clutching his heart on that one. lol lol lol I don't drink the water from the well, buy it from walmart. this water stinks. Builder told us to put bleach in it from time to time. Man, this water is 'hard' spots up your car, keeps a ring in the commode, white water deposits (calcium?) around your sink fixtures, etc. Gonna to get a water softener when we can afford it. He'll quit watering before long LOL tee hee, tee hee
