They have always had a visitor center on I-40 where you turn off for the airport. And that gets quite a bit of tourist traffic. But several years ago they built this one on the west side of the Civic Center facing Buchanan St. About 3pm this afternoon, and it appears that no one is around, except 1 employee inside. And no one is ever around this visitor center when I have been downtown. Bad enough to waste construction money, but I can't believe they pay someone to sit in there. US-287 traffic through Amarillo is mostly trucks...and not tourist traffic. Just another Amarillo boondoggle.

We visited that place before we moved in down here. bought a Tx denim shirt too. WT, see those pics I posted over in 'stoplights in canyon"?

I always thought the most boring and pointless job would have been the tourism director for the state of North Dakota.
