Had the privilege of being at the new Buffalo Sports Park last night when the lights were turned on for the first time at the new baseball & softball fields.....OMG, what magnificent facilities!.....They are the best in D-II and better than a lot of D-I....A big thanks to the students and administration for making it all possible!

Since WT does not have nearly enough fan interest in D2 around Amarillo.
And we currently have low attendance in both football and basketball.
It's nice to start getting some D1 athletic infrastructure in place for when WT moves forward.
But I'm still not a big fan of the student fee.
Why?
Because it takes the public out of the fund-raising and decision making process.
And because there are some major national corporations doing busness in the Amarillo-Borger-Dumas area...that are currently not yet supporting WT.
So WT needs to announce a campaign to go D1...and start soliciting sponsorships from the big corporations that employ thousands of people in the Texas Panhandle.
Then then we can start getting the increased public fan support that WT and its athletes deserve.

"And we currently have low attendance in both football and basketball."
You are not expecting WT to start as a BCS school, are you?
Have you checked attendance at lower level DI (FCS) colleges which is where WT would be? Places like Northern Colorado, SFA, SHSU, Cal-Davis, Nicholls State, NE Louisiana, just to name a few....There attendances didn't go through the roof just because they went "DI"....In fact, WT already draws as well or better than they do....So what makes you think WT's attendance would increase by playing those schools because that is exactly the schools WT would be forced to schedule? There might be some increase in attendance for a while, but if WT starts losing or OU or Texas is not on the schedule at home, then you and other so-called supporters will drop out in a New York minute.
