Obama open borders policy?
I'm opposed to bringing in 3rd world people who cause trouble and don't share American values.
I can understand the Swift plant in Cactus.
But I wonder what sort of jobs would be attracting Somalis to Amarillo?
Tyson/IBP ?
Do they automatically give work permits to anyone who wants to come to the United States?
Most of the crime in Amarillo seems to be committed by people who haven't been here very long.
And that has been increasing over the last 3 or 4 years.
We are attracting the wrong sort of people to Amarillo.
And middle class Amarillo people keep having to move to Dallas for better paying jobs.

The bringing in the Somalis has created big problems in the Dumas and Amarillo school districts. Finding bi-lingual teachers is just one of several problems and added expenses for the districts.
While apparently trained for their jobs, the Somali's U.S. social skills and knowledge have proved to be lacking. This has presented some problems.

Should the government provide the refugees with a job or it's like "hey everybody! Come here boys. We'll give you all you need with no problem, just come in and be a guest"? It sounds like another pain in the ass for no reason.

won't be pirating to many on Lake Meredith LOL By the way, is it ok to swim there? I read its level's declining, because of low precipitations and droughts of last years.

no water to swim in from the pictures I've seen. What water there is all dirty looking. Firs time we saw it before we moved down here we didn't think we were at the right place and I asked my real estate woman "was that Lake Meredith there where you launch your boat"? she said "yeah, that's it" I go "eww that's uglier then the Ohio up in Ind. " LOL

What about fish? Were any fishermen notices there?

I never saw any signs. I very much doubt if any fish is in that old dried up place. I wouldn't eat nothing from there. LOL

I know there used to be fish. I think it was in the late 80s that the water in the lake turned over unexpectedly. It is common for water to move from top to bottom apparently, but this time, the water officials weren't prepared for it and all the water in Lubbock smelled like dead fish for days. The chemicals that they put in the water to keep it from smelling like dead fish hadn't been added. I didn't even want to shower. Drinking it was out of the question.

Thanks for the link, shark That's a sad story. By the way, about a year ago, Russian TVnews reported about a lake disappearing somewhere in Russia. The matter was a natural empty space under the lake. When the bottom cracked all the water went through it within minutes. Witnesses told it looked like Armageddon

I'm on well water and we shelled out for a whole house water softener that made a BIG difference best money I ever spent. no more sand and grit in my jacuzzi, shower head, around the faucets in kitchen. after U would take a shower you could feel sand in your hair ! ugh, that was horrible. got a spigot at the sink where the water is pure, etc. Best present I could get before I moved down here I had city water up in Ind. Water in texas isn't fit for cattle. I was afraid of getting kidney stones. Dont' have a gallbladder LOL so didn't have to worry about gall stones. Attachments:
