This is pretty self-explanatory. Texas Tech and Lubbock are running a university and athletic program the right way. WT and Amarillo are running WTAMU the wrong way. Lubbock MSA metro population: 269037 Amarillo MSA metro population: 246254 Nielson Ratings Amarillo TV media market: 192,490 Nielson Ratings Lubbock TV media market: 158,360 blog.nielsen.com/nielsenwire/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/2009-2010-dma-ranks.pdfThe discrepancies between Texas Tech University and West Texas A&M University should not be this large. Something is wrong between Amarillo and Canyon and WTAMU. That something needs to be fixed.

The last WT home D2 football game in 2010 on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Only 5300 fans in a 20,000 seat stadium. ...........The failure of Division II at WTAMU. Very low student interest. Very low alumni interest. Very low interest in WT from Amarillo.

Well, Tech administration had a different vision for their university during the 1950's and early 60's and forced their way into the SWC. Preston Smith was somehow able to get Tech into the SWC after being rejected 8 times by the SWC.
How do you over come that today? Without TV deals and large conference $$$$. The LSC is doing some great things to make the LSC one of the top D2 Conferences. I think the LSC is more imaginative and creative than the SLC. The SLC is not one of the top FCS conferences. The Buffalo Club of which I am a member does not control the strategic plan for the athletics department. The BC provides funding for student athletic schollies and facilities.

The picture above shows that Amarillo has very little interest in the LSC or D2. LSC = small and boring...otherwise WT would have a lot more fans at the games. Thousands of empty seats give the Amarillo opinion of D2 and the LSC. How many people from Tech travel to games...compared to 50 to 100 people from WT? Empty seats are not exciting...especially when McBroom does little or no marketing for WT football. And maybe you need to read on the D2 board. Because the Buffalo Club director guys are always talking about meetings with McBroom. Those secret meetings are often at night...and other people have no access. But they talk about some things that are said in those meetings. The Buffalo Club holds the purse strings for money to WT sports. The Buffalo Club directors have set the direction for WT sports. If McBroom would say WT wants to go back to D1...more money will come in. But why does WT make no effort to raise more money? Why?

Okay you show a picture of the Texas v Texas Tech Game where Texas was Ranked No.1 and Tech was Ranked No. 3.
Tech sells out Jones Stadium once a year. On even years when Texas comes to town and odd years when A&M comes to town.
Lets look at D1 Football outside the BCS Conferences
2010 Southland Conference Football Texas State vs Sam Houston State (Nov 20, 2010 at Huntsville, TX) Texas State (4-7,1-6) vs. Sam Houston State (6-5,4-3)
Date: Nov 20, 2010 • Site: Huntsville, TX • Stadium: Bowers Stadium • Attendance: 5631[/b]
Scoring Summary (Final) 2010 Southland Conference Football Southeastern La. vs Sam Houston State (Oct 16, 2010 at Huntsville, TX) Southeastern La. (2-4,1-1) vs. Sam Houston State (4-2,2-0)
Date: Oct 16, 2010 • Site: Huntsville, TX • Stadium: Bowers Stadium • Attendance: 7457
Scoring Summary (Final) 2010 Southland Conference Football Central Arkansas vs #4 Stephen F. Austin (Oct 16, 2010 at Nacogdoches, TX) Central Arkansas (3-3,0-2) vs. Stephen F. Austin (5-1,2-0)
Date: Oct 16, 2010 • Site: Nacogdoches, TX • Stadium: Homer Bryce Stadium • Attendance: 7938
People care as much for WT D2 Football as they doe FCS D1.

What is really interesting and quite shocking is. That WT's entire football attendance for all of 2010 would fit inside Jones Stadium at one time. ;D fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/football_records/Attendance/2010.pdfWT averaged 10,760 fans over 5 home games in 2010. And WT's total football attendance for all of 2010 was 53,798 fans. Jones Stadium at Texas Tech in Lubbock seats 60,000 people. And Texas Tech averaged 57,108 fans over 6 home games in 2010. Texas Tech's entire total attendance in 2010 was 342,647 fans. Texas Tech's average attendance for every game was larger than WT's total attendance. ;D ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- But in FCS: You can look at Appalachian State's and Montana's attendance in 2010. And see that with some marketing...WT could probably put together some good home crowds. Since you can scroll down and see that App. State is not exactly playing big names. Except for their money game at Florida. And App. State is the same school that beat Michigan a while back at Michigan Stadium. Looks like D1AA FCS has more attendance potential than D2. ;D

This is very interesting. Appalachian State is able to get crowds of over 25,000 at FCS with these ticket prices. This is how you pay for a higher level of sports. Higher ticket prices. WT charges $10 a game for football tickets right now. Which is what WT was charging way back when I was in high school in the early 1980's. The date and $9 price of these old WT student tickets say a LOT. ;D About how much WT is under-charging big-time 29 years later in 2011.

Stillwater is the principal city of the Stillwater Micropolitan Statistical Area which had a population of 77,350 according to the 2010 census. The Amarillo Metropolitan Statistical Area is a metropolitan area in the Texas Panhandle that covers four counties - Armstrong, Carson, Potter, and Randall. As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 226,522 (though a July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 246,474). ;D On September 13, 1980, WT beat Oklahoma State on this field in this same stadium.
