Proof that it was a very stupid decision for WT to drop from Division I to Division II in 1986. D1 rocks and has fan and alumni support. D2 is mostly boring and small and has very little fan or alumni support. D1 games have lots of fans at the games. D2 games at WT have thousands of empty seats. The WTAMU Buffalo Club directors and the Amarillo Old Boy Network are running a scam on all of us. The Stillwater, OK metro area has a population of 77,350. The Amarillo-Canyon metro area has a population of 246,474. Larger image link: i86.photobucket.com/albums/k111/west-texan/WTAMU/WT-OSU-Midsize.gif

WT coach Bill Yung had something good going at WT. Then the stay small thinkers at the Buffalo Club have ruined it. And now we are losing big money with thousands of empty seats at WT games. Imagine where WT would be after 31 years of progress. If WT had chosen to build on the momentum that Bill Yung and Joe Kerbel had started at WT. In 1980, the WT Buffs took down an OSU team coached by a future NFL coach who won 2 Super Bowls as coach of the Dallas Cowboys. West Texas State University was on the way to bigger and better things. Until the drop to the D2 level set back progress and growth for years.
