I went to watch some show today. Do you have any reconstruction clubs in Amarillo?

They are using live steel which I believe is not allowed in the U.S. There are two groups that would be similar but without real weapons. There's SCA and Amptgard.

I just checked the SCA. Society for Creative Anachronism is awesome! They fight for real! Thank you, phantom

I've concluded that "old enough to know better" no longer exists.

The end of the metal swords are pointed...but surely the edges are not sharp.
It seems to me that you'd have to be careful to not jab someone too hard.
But if the edges aren't sharp...it would be like using a movie prop.
Right?

I believe edges aren't sharp enough to hurt, but they still able to chop, because I checked they guys' shields and had seen signs of chopping. The idea is the swords aren't considered to be a cold weapon because of soft of steel used. It's not strong enough, and observers were warned to give the guys some more place to act, because of bits of steel or wood that could fly away right into people.
But I don't know anything about it. It's just my guess.
