Used to be that one of the good thing s you could say about living in Amarillo was the lack of traffic. Lately that doesn't seem to be true. Every time I have to make a foray across town I find my self thinking which way I should go to get in and out with the least amount of aggravation. Some intersections you have to avoid at certain times of the days and others you almost avoid at all costs. Now even over here on the down side of town it's just as bad. I consolidate my trips not only to save on gas but to save on time wasted in fighting fecking traffic.

Won't argue with you blue that traffic has changed in Amarillo. But hot-dang you ought to catch Lubbock at five o'clock....on Slide Road you would think you are on the white flag lap of Daytona.

Rush hour in the I-40 and Coulter and I-40 and Bell areas is still a mess late in the afternoon as hospital employees get off work.
And we still have a few running red lights on Western between 34th and I-40.
But overall, I think Amarillo traffic may have actually improved a bit.
With fewer people tailgating me for driving the speed limit.
And a lot of people seem to have slowed down about 5 mph less than speed limit on 34th between Bell and Coulter and Soncy like maybe they are trying to save gas.
But we still have a few isolated idiots driving on major streets after dark with no lights...and I saw another of those tonight.
The tailgaters were really bad about 10 to 12 years ago, but that situation seems to have now gotten much better most of the time.

I never seen a problem with traffic here in Amarillo. What I do see is people not moving! I mean, how many times have you tried to make a left turn in a intersection on a green light but couldn't because people are 4 car lengths apart? Could have fit 30 cars in that left turn but no! Only 3 made it...lol
How bout those yield signs just before you get on the highway....It's not a stop sign people! Oh yeah, why do 95% of people that are driving on I40/I27 all have to drive in the right lane across town? Jeeze!
One more thing! The next 4-way stop I come to...I'm going first.....why? Well because I don't feel like waving you people on to remind you it's your turn....screw it.... I'm first. No sitting there staring at each other trying to be kind...I got stuff to do!

There are times when construction and accidents can mess things up. But for the most part...I think traffic has calmed down a bit a bit on the west side of town. Except when Phantom or Shark decide to come to Amarillo. ;D And speaking of NE Amarillo. I think Bluewest needs to quit throwing all his beer bottles out in the pastures going south on Eastern between the Boulevard and 10th. Our good ol' boy city leaders seem to have no interest in stopping things like that or making property owners clean up around town. The traffic in Amarillo is better than the general look of our town which is sliding toward trashy.

Ms. Shark comes to town couple times a week. We go out to lunch (we hicks call it dinner) every Mon. Gonna try and hit the Cracker Barrel on Mon. but, it's a holiday, so, we'll see. If it's to crowded and noisy I'm going to Arby's. LOL coming up on soncy we see people working off their court problems picking up trash on that long stretch all the way up to Hillside turn off. Think that's a great idea they should do that all over Amarillo. Attachments:

WT, your right about that stretch of eastern, south of the boulevard. I think whoever owns those pastures have never ever bothered or been forced to clean them out.

How long does it take to buy a car in Amarillo? I mean all the paperwork including getting plates, insurance and etc. Can I buy a car and drive it by the end of the day of buying?

I spoke too soon. Drove down Eastern the other day and those pastures just north of 3rd street have all been cleaned up of broken bottles.

Interesting. They must have gotten the day labor people to pick up the mess. Good. But I'd still to see a city wide cleanup campaign. Don't Mess With Amarillo would be a good start, and it might even help get some community sprit and unity started in our city.

you gonna buy a car in Amarillo ?
when we bought our truck, they insisted on getting the plates for it, put on temps till the real ones came in. We'd like to do it ourselves if given the option. We bought insurance by the end of the day. Had to wait on the permanent plates.
If U got the money U can pretty well have it your way everyday LOL
