Can you give me advice on where to stay for a night in Amarillo? The budget is $100. Surely, I can find it myself, but I don't believe those reviews on the internet. At least I know you are real people and aren't interested in promoting a rubbish place if it's really a rubbish one.

Amarillo, being on I-40 interstate is blessed with a phenomenal number of hotels and motels in all sizes and descriptions. All major chains are located there. As I seldom stay in Amarillo, I don't know any of those out of the way places but you should find something for your budget easily.

What's the name of that motel across from Furr's on Soncy right on amarillo blvd. ? We stayed there couple of times before we moved here. That was a nice place. Have to check their rates last time we stayed there was in 2010 before we moved to our new home. Used to stay at the Residence Inn by Marriot right on I-40 but they went high hat and husband wouldn't pay that much to stay at a place that we wasn't gonna be in that much. Can't remember the name of that place across from Furr's cafeteria---Comfort Inn?
Doysl, what do you plan to do when you grace our city ?

What's the name of that motel across from Furr's on Soncy right on amarillo blvd. ? Drury Inn & Suites Their prices start from $110 plus tax Well, I plan to accomplish a couple of missions that I was assigned by KGB and Amarillo is just a place where I meet an agent. To be serious, I'll meet with my pen pal. The approximate time of my arrival is 5 pm. On the next day, at 2 pm we'll drive to Los Angeles stopping by different sights and attractions. We also plan to visit the Yosemite park in the North of California. What can I do in Amarillo? I know there's an amusement park

no, it's not the Drury I never stayed there. If I can figure it out I'll post it. yeah, there's Wonderland Park. I never been there though. I wouldn't ride nothing anyway. Always on a diet, so, can't eat nothing LOL Zoo, is free on Mondays we want to go and check it out. Palo Duro Canyon is a big thing. I went once and no way will I go again ! The exit is just a 1 lane road cut into a hill? rock formation? I called it a mountain one time and got laughed out by a local. No safety rails to keep you from going off the edge, just a steep fall. I kept hugging the drivers side and screaming at husband what if we meet somebody , no way can we back up ! I was afraid some mean a-- kids had reverse the signs and this wasn't the way out of the park. Scared the holy crap out of me. Asked the people at church about it they said "yep, the only way down and buses take it,etc." I made a vow they seen the last of my Dodge van hahahha going up the hill to get to the scenic spot is fine, but, man, coming down around the mountain is one scary moment. I felt like one of the Ice Road Truckers hahahahaha (history channel TV show depicting drivers having to drive thru all kinds of treacherous conditions).
this one won't be coming around the mountain !

I wouldn't like to get in the same situation Are American officers strict with foreigners if it's about breaking rules on the road? I've been thinking here and I bet I should ask where to NOT go in Amarillo as well. So what areas had I better to avoid?

Shark, I've found what you mean: Country Inn & Suites. They start from about $93 plus tax provided I book it 14 days in advance.

If I helped U I'm glad. ;D
You may enjoy the Palo Duro Canyon in Canyon, Tx. Don't take my word for it. I'm a scaredy cat woman hahaha not much for heights, etc.
as far as the cops go, all I can recommend is wear your seatbelt, do the legal speed limit, don't drink while driving.
A woman got killed on I-40 few wks ago by 2 cars drag racing and forced her off the road and she went over the high side of the road and tumbled down. Dead. Just so couple of idiots could see which had the fastest car. Hope they throw the book at 'em.

Well, when there are such idiots on the roads, you have to have a really big car to feel safe.
So what about places to keep away from in Amarillo? One day, I saw a TV show where some American, that moved to Russia, talked about cities in the U.S. where you'd better not stop on the red light or else you'll be shot and thrown out of your car.

You don't have to worry about that down here in and around amarillo. They were probably referring to the major cities like Chicago, New York, East St. Louis, Detroit. Major cities like those have bad areas, that U shouldn't be near in the first place. Druggy areas in the ghetto. When we go back to Ind. we have to pass thru a little of St. Louis got lost one time and ended up in East St. Louis ! I hollered "get us out of here"! LOL Thank God, we found the right road and floored the gas. There's a funny Chevy Chase movie where the family takes a vacation and ends up in and may have been East St. Louis he's asking for directions and the guys he's talking to are keeping him occupied while all the time they're taking off his tires and stripping his car down. Just a movie and meant to show how clueless 'Clark' (chevy chase) is. His wife is a pretty blonde and she's a nervous wreck trying to appear cool, but, she's saying under her breathe "clark, get us out of here NOW!" Funny movie, but it was meant to be funny. No, you don't have to worry about Amarillo. We wouldn't had moved here if we thought we was moving to a 'gang' area. LOL
