Canyon is a dinky little 1 horse 2 dog town that has been at about 13,000 people for the last 30 years.
But they have at least 4 police departments we know about. 1. Canyon City Police. 2. Randall County Sheriff Department. 3. Texas DPS State Troopers and Highway Patrol. 4. WTMU Campus Security Guards.
And they still can't stop Phantom from driving up I-27 from Lubbock. Maybe if we break her GPS she won't be able to find Amarillo?

ROFLMAO yep, it's the land that time forgot alright. I didn't come from a hip town when I moved, but, it wasn't quite this behind the times, but, we like it. If we were more used to upscale surroundings like going to the opera, broadway, and such we would had floored the gas and got out of Dodge, but, we like the decent, homey folks. Sure seem to love their religion. Man, that layed my sod in my front yard scared me to death after I had just moved in and cut me off on my way to my mailbox one day and said "have you been saved by the blood of the risen christ"? I gulped and said "yes, believe I have I am Baptist". LOL He was kind of scary, but, I was able to engage him in conversation and I could hold my own in religion talk, so, I went back into the house. Kind of reminded me of 'children of the corn' movie. Clothes they wear give me a flashback to little house on prairie, but, maybe that's all they got , so, I don't sit in judgement of the less fortunate. Live & let live is my motto. Phantom best stay down there in wild butt Lubbock I guess with all the heathens. LOL LOL

Canyon is a nice town but some of the old rich families are afraid that Amarillo and Canyon might grow larger with more people.
That's why it may seem like the land that time forgot.
The old rich people enjoy being the big fish in a small pond and they are sort of afraid of new people and new money and they don't want our local Amarillo and Canyon pond to get bigger.

Makes me wonder if that guy might have been part of the Mennonite religious group they say lives out somewhere toward the west between Canyon and Umbarger. I saw some of them years ago at the laundromat in Canyon years ago when I was in college.

GPS? Now what fun would it be to zoom around Amarillo if I couldn't get lost once in a while? Life needs to have adventure right?

Me? Wild Heathen Woman? Next you'll try to convince us that my trips to Amarillo are really just escapes from Lubbock police when I get a little too wild. Oops, did I reveal a little too much here?

Yeah, WT I got the message with what your saying. This is a wide open board , so, I can't go into detail, but, I found out exactly what U mean about who runs the show. Remember Boss Hogg from the Dukes of Hazard? I came up against that ilk quite innocently and quite unexpectantly I might add. I know my place and lay low.
Poor Phantom, we pick on her she gets no peace. Bless her heart she is a good egg. LOL
