Yes it is. I haven't been in a while, but I drive by it pretty often. Today would have been a beautiful day to come down. The weather is nice - no dirt blowing!!!

K-Mart is on S. University in Lubbock.
Drive there in Phantom mode.
LOL
85 mph all the way down I-27 to Lubbock.
Take the Loop 289 exit off I-27 and go west on the Loop until you take the University Avenue exit.
Drive south non-stop on University Ave. at 55 mph or more and just ignore all those pesky stop lights until you get to K-Mart.
Then shop till you drop.
Or until they kick you out of the store.
And make sure you take your husband's credit card. Very important!

Or you can avoid all but one of those pesky lights by staying on I27 until you get to the South Loop, take University exit and turn north (right). Then, you only have about three blocks and one light to run.

If Shark had only been in Amarillo years ago...she wouldn't have needed to go to Lubbock to shop at K-Mart.
Amarillo had 2 big K-Marts and 3 or 4 smaller K-Marts until Walmart ran them out of town.
And I wonder a bit if the big stores make secret tax deals with the city to help run the competition out of town.
There were also smaller K-Marts in Borger and Pampa before the Walmart days.

Kohl's on Soncy was a big K-Mart for a while and the original big K-Mart in Amarillo was where Home Depot is now on Georgia and the Home Depot on Soncy was also a smaller K-Mart.

Lubbock has only had two KMarts. The one on University used to be across the street. That is now a private school for Trinity church. The other one was on 19th and the West Loop. Academy is now in that location. Times do change!

Thanks for all the replies. We was down there one time last yr. The way stores are closing left and right I like to check first before I spend money on gas. LOL Where we ran into trouble was trying to find that steak place that was recommended to him that he "just had to eat at". We finally found it and salad bar was awful, table was wobbly I had the boy brace it up my food was falling off the table, crowded and noisy I couldn't wait to leave. Then we couldn't find how to get back on I-27 North we kept heading out of town to another town. We like to go when school is still in, no week-ends and no holidays. LOL
