1. sometimes there would be accidents where they would get hit and be killed. Sad. 2. and U running to the mall every week 3. I was told costs 10,000. 1. That's really sad 2. ;D ;D ;D 3. 10,000 for a well with all the stuff in it??? If I get it right that thing can produce an electricity, huh As to the Amish life, they're worth of respect. However, for each their own. Someone likes this, someone likes that. Of course, some of them might not like how they live, but have you ever heard about any Amish-defector? By the way, do they have any passports? Well, if they run restaurants, they should pay taxes and apparently have all the documents. Ok ^_^ Just I heard about the same people in Russia. Not Amish, just "Old believers" who'd gone into the Taiga even before the revolution. I'm not sure if they have any documents. They live the way people lived a century ago, just like Amish. And they don't like interlopers ;D But who knows what and whom you can find in Taiga? It's as wild and non-explored as Amazon forests.

phantom, I definitely heard about a tough blizzard in Amarillo this Winter. I even saw a couple of videos with stuck in snow cars on YouTube.com On the another forum I was told Amarillo has one or two good blizzards every year, what was a really surprise for me, since I though--judging by movies--it's always sunny and dry in Texas ;D The Dairy Queen looks like an ice-cream cafe like the Baskin-Robbins) I guess its blizzards are the only escape from today's heat there, huh? ;D shark, I agree exchanging is nice, because I've never seen anything like what's on the photo you attached. That's cool ;D I guess Amish have water wells with buckets, don't they? ^_^

300 ft? Then it must be kind of many connected to each other thin pipes with a pump on the top, right? I imagined a classic well with a bucket for some reason

Ha ha, they call each other comrade only in movies nowadays. However, some dude turned to me yesterday in the elevator saying,'Wow, where are you going, comrade miner?' The matter is he'd seen my head-flashlight that makes me looking as a miner)) But I guess you know that's a joke and I also guess you're joking too about the comrade thing As for me being here, I like the nature of Texas and one of my pen pals lives in Amarillo. I thought having found this forum I'll be able to get to know with kinda Amarillo Internet community or just learn something about routine life over there That's interesting. You asked me as if I'm the first Russian user on this TX website And speaking about your well, was that all right during the last blizzards?
