I hit the Amarillo City limit and, bam, the price suddenly went up to $2.85. Try $2.99...because the temperature went up...and Mitchell jacked the Greed-N-Grabbem gas price. Mitchell varies his price a LOT based on how warm it is...with the cheapest gas on cooler days. It's supposed to be almost 20 degrees cooler tomorrow...so hold off on buying. With Pak-A-Sak...just riding Mitchell's shirttail on prices...it's really not market driven...because there is very little alternative within the city limits. And driving out to Luv's or Flying J...eats up any savings. We need a deep pockets national corporation that will come in and compete...and tell Mitchell to shove his buyout offers.

We have the highest gasoline prices, but we have some of the lowest diesel prices in the state?? Go figure. I would like to get an old VW Jetta with a diesel engine and convert it to run on used vegetable oil. That way, I can just get a little grease every night at Hummers and never have to fill up again. ;D I had OKC last week and I experienced a phenomena very similar to your Plainview trip, Marked. Gas was in the $2.72 range at all the truck stops. I know that is what they were selling it for at the Flying J right outside of town. I hit the Amarillo City limit and, bam, the price suddenly went up to $2.85. Fortunately it wasn't a "Plainview trip". That would suck. We were coming back from the Motherland where we watched the Jamaal Charles show. Gas was even cheaper in Austin.

It's gone up to $2.79 most places in Lubbock. Probably won't come down with the holidays near.

Amarillo is a joke on this. He is BS. Not more than 10 minutes after cnn had relase of oil going up the store close to here went up to 2.99. Liek I said when I was on vacation it was cheaper between the Mojave and Death Valley than it was here. THATS BS!!!

Flying J is 2.81 right now. TnT by my house is 2.99. I'm out by the Flying J often enough anyway, so I don't think I'm losing too much by going out there to buy gas. But sometimes I go deliberately out there anyway. I may not be saving any money, but I'm also not lining TnTs pockets, or the pockets of the others that simply follow his lead. There is a certain (if intangible) satisfaction in that.

There is a certain (if intangible) satisfaction in that. Isn't that just amazing? Only a few miles and the price jumps by 18 cents a gallon. Well, I would recommend that everybody go and fill up right now. The Fed cut interest rates today by another 1/4 point, which means the dollar is going to slip even further and they are going to try to use that to justify higher gas prices. I guarantee GM is going to raise his prices before he runs out of his current inventory. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes up 10 cents by the end of the week. I think I will head out and fill up tomorrow morning.

Does Amarillo have any stations that offer pumps with an E85 ethanol blend? That stuff is usually 10 to 20 cents a gallon cheaper than regular unleaded, but I never see any pumps in big A offering it. My car is flexfuel capable, so it would certainly save lots of money if we had that option.
