One thing we MUST remember is that WE interpret whatever is written in the Bible THROUGH the Holy Spirit too. Without that interpretation of the Holy Spirit the Bible is too strange for common man to understand. satan confuses the unsaved, and tries to confuse the saved, so that doesn't help, but only through the Holy Spirit can we understand anything in the Bible. So for all purposes the only word in the Bible could be 'oooohhhmmmm', and through the interpretation of the Holy Spirit we would know exactly what it means, without that interpretation it just looks like a meditative word. You're kiddin right? That just makes no sense what so ever!!!!!

As far as women not being allowed to write, I don't think that has any bearing on the situation. The first 5 chapters of the bible were written by Moses and took over 1000 years to complete. In the beginning his stories were carried over orally, in stories, songs, etc. The earliest form of writing was hieroglyphics (sp?) According to the bible, Moses knew the way's of the Egyptians, so I'm assuming his first writings were in hieroglyphics. Then of course there is the book of Ruth. So I'm not saying that women were not disciples or even that they were alienated from the bible. Going back to the original topic, "could Jesus and Mary have children" According to the bible, some might not think it possible. But take the bible as a whole. The first some odd chapters happened way before Moses was even born, the tellings were oral and passed down through generations and recounted by man (and man is fallible). It has been proven that there were other scrolls, written during biblical time, I believe they are now called agnostic scrolls? Take all of this in consideration, isn't it possible that what is contained within the bible, had bearing on what was allowed/disallowed at the time? And the parts that would go against the whole scheme of things was neglected to be included? Okay, I'm probably being clear as mud, so I'll give a little background as to what I believe. I do believe there is one God, and Jesus was his son. As far as the bible goes. I believe it is a recount of the experience of the disciples, but ultimately written by man. It has been proven time again that man is a fallible being, not to mention Genesis happened way before Moses was even born and his telling of it was passed through generations orally, this in itself is way open for error. Also the bible, for the most part is written in parables, open for interpretation, each interpretation meaning something differently for the reader. Then you take in to consideration the "times", what where the laws of the land, what would be disruptive to the governing bodies, etc. I think there are several things that were not included in the bible, so yes I think it's possible that Jesus and Mary had children. I also think it wise to look outside the bible for answers, as I don't think it possible it contains all of the answers. I understand exactly what you are saying and agree.... I was told as far as the King James version goes.... that King James picked and chose what went in that version of the Bible... Is this true?

Just for clarity sake it's not the agnostic scrolls, but the gnostic scrolls. There is a big difference because the A in Greek means not or no and gnostic means knowledge or to know. Agnosticism and gnosticism are the opposites of each otherThanks for that clarification. I knew it was something to that effect, but I should of looked it up to make certain, before I posted.

Baybay,
There have been several studies that show something to that effect. I don't know for certain it was King James, but there were several rulers and popes (names escape me) that "modified" the way things were. There was a very interesting documentary that ran on the Discovery channel last summer, I believe. One was "Unlocking the Divinci Code", one was "Unlocking the secrets of the bible" (or something to that effect) and one on the "Gnostic scrolls". It shed some light on a lot of things I, myself, wonder about. If you ever get a chance to watch them, I highly recommend it.

Has anyone clicked the advertising link for religiousfool.com at the top of this thread? No...but the Google ads...pick up on the words on the page... so if you talk about religion...they roughly go that direction...and if you talk about sex...they tend to go that direction.

Of course it makes no sense whatsover to a non-believer. That's the point, it confuses satan's kids so they say it makes no sense what so ever.

Hi pikker, Now to throw some jelly on the peanut butter. ::)You receive interpretation from a holy ghost to clarify the words of the bible?? ;)I know that is what we have been told to do by people from the pulpit and sorts but why would God want to do it that way. Sounds more like the author of confusion to me. That not being the devil or the like but the worst author of confusion---People who want control of your mind and spirit and money. What if it's the wrong ghost you are listening to?? Hi Mopnglo, :)Your exploratory thinking is something I like. Google --making of the bible--- and see many links that explain several things about the efforts in making the bible. ;)Just to explain a little of my position on this subject, I started exploring this about 15-20 yrs ago and it was amazing what you will find. Especially now with the Internet and all. 8-)Be careful to use your critical thinking and God given Common Sense to explore the information. Peace

Especially now with the Internet and all. 8-)Be careful to use your critical thinking and God given Common Sense to explore the information. Peace The discernment of spirits is a gift of the Holy Spirit. We really need to know who we are listening to. Remember too that satan knows the Bible inside and out, or should I say he knows the Word, much better than we do. We are also warned of false prophets, that could be searching the internet for 'truths' about how the Bible was put together too. We are surrounded by false prophets, false teachers, those that doubt God and His Word, and anything He is. So interpretation through the Holy Spirit is major. When someone says "I love you," it could be taken sexually, as a friend, just a passing thing to say, it's up to how we interpret it by the person saying the words. Should we hop into the sack with mom just because she says it? Yech, but if we interpret it as coming from mom that she loves me since conception and will love me regardless then I see 'I love you' as interpreted as parental love. Believe me, I've listened to the wrong spirits before, and those get you into trouble. Interpretation comes from reading the Word, being in the Word, and accepting the Word as that from God, not man. If I picked up a book that was written in German I wouldn't get a thing out of it. So I need someone who can tell me what the words say, and moreso I need someone who understands what the author was trying to convey, the emotions, passion, everything that brings that message to life, I need that interpretor. And if I got a Spanish interpretor it wouldn't help, only confuse, and I could tell since I can recognise German is different from Spanish. I can tell the evil spirits trying to give me false information. There's a 'gut feeling' that God inplants in us that we call 'consciense' but it is His spirit that is talking to us.

Mop, If you believe that the Bible is open for error because it was written by fallible men, then you can't believe anything in the Bible. Yes, the Bible was written by men, but they were spirit filled and wrote what God had them write. If you don't believe this, then throw the whole Bible out. It is either the inerrant Word of God or a nice piece of fiction.

That's not necessarily so. There are many things in the bible that have proof of existence. There are also many men/women that have done things in the name of God, while being filled with the holy spirit. I'm sure David Koresh, Jimmy Jones, and others thought they were doing right and honestly thought it was the Holy Spirit guiding their actions as well. I'm not arguing the validity of everything in the Bible. I'm saying that it's possible that not everything is included. The bible is an excellent insight into what transpired back then, but you also need to add a good dose of common sense and take into consideration the time frame as well. You know even Moses got a little big headed with the power bestowed on him.

:)For those that believe the bible is inerrant have probably never even done fundamental outside the church exploring and are more a part of the herd that just follows. That is fine for some, not me. ::)Then to say if you don't buy it all then it's a bunch of rubbish!!! Wow! How shallow. I have an idea that some parts of the bible writings are just the pure raw truth, some are just the fiction you spoke of. Explore the differences. ;)Be careful, you know religion kills!!! Pikker, ;DYour parable's are well put on one level but sometimes expose the truth to be the opposite of your intent. The language barrier you spoke is using an obvious to try to prove an unreasonable. While I have similar ideas of our conscience I am concerned by those who say it came from a holy ghost. I have more an idea it came from your mother and father and God. No middle men, other god's or false prophets needed here... Peace

Who's to decide what is fiction and what is true? Are you qualified to decide if one part of the Bible is truth and another isn't? Either you accept as a Christian that the Bible is the true Word of God or you don't. Doesn't take much being part of the herd there.
