Who's to decide what is fiction and what is true? Are you qualified to decide if one part of the Bible is truth and another isn't? Either you accept as a Christian that the Bible is the true Word of God or you don't. Doesn't take much being part of the herd there. ;DThat's easy----You get to decide. Only do your research and discover what you think. Have you done that? Have you just accepted what you have been told and look at what you have been told to look into and avoid the rest? Most in the herd don't get away and explore on their own. I was a part of that for many years. ;)Interesting article in today AGN about "What you don't know about the bible could hurt" Check it out! Peace

Can you post the link? I don't live in Amarillo and am not a registered user on AGN. As for research, yes I have done some. And I stand behind my belief that either the Bible is to be accepted as it is written or is just and interesting series of short stories.

I don't think it would be legal for me to post what I have been sent by email.... but here is an interesting link from this guy... and if you do subscribe... the emails are just simple text. www.sevenliesoforganizedreligion.com/7lies.htmlReading the url it sounds like someone got burned by organized religion. I did too. Now it's not about religion but about relationship with Jesus Christ. He gives us two commandments, both are about love, and if we do those two then the rest is gravy since loving those who hate you is the hardest thing to do. But religion, well, the 'rules of the road' for those that are lost seems like a good idea, but then in the midst of it people get lost getting sidelined by all the man-made rules for how we are supposed to be. A Christian doesn't have to offer up sacrifices for sins commited, the Sacrifice was/is Jesus Christ, He took our sins, suffered, was humiliated, spit upon, everything WE deserve, for us so we wouldn't have to. Kick the idea of religion out, engage the idea of a relationship and you'll do great.

That's not necessarily so. There are many things in the bible that have proof of existence. There are also many men/women that have done things in the name of God, while being filled with the holy spirit. I'm sure David Koresh, Jimmy Jones, and others thought they were doing right and honestly thought it was the Holy Spirit guiding their actions as well. I'm not arguing the validity of everything in the Bible. I'm saying that it's possible that not everything is included. The bible is an excellent insight into what transpired back then, but you also need to add a good dose of common sense and take into consideration the time frame as well. You know even Moses got a little big headed with the power bestowed on him. There was a spirit telling them, but not the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit would NEVER tell anyone to harm another or even harm self, NEVER! The spirit of evil was inside those men.
