Instead of "Best Of" let's do a "Worst Of." In your opinion, what's the worst Amarillo restaurant? While I love their food, from a seating and service standpoint, I don't much care for Frank's Bakery. I don't care for Applebee's either. What are your least favorite Amarillo restaurants?

I would list ever restaurant in Amarillo that doesn't take checks...some of us don't carry wads of cash and hate to use credit cards.

I'll have to think on worst sit-down and eat restaurant...
but the worst fast-food in Amarillo...would have to be BK on Teckla.

Pizza Hut Georgia. By far worst anywhere ever. 6 visits in 4 months. everytime bad service, worse food, long wait.

I am not a real big fan of Malcolms over on Paramount. Both the food and the service have been terrible every time I have been there. I have no clue how they have stayed in business so long. The China Star over by Belmar elementary is terrible and I will never go back to eat there. While I'm at it, I think Calico County blows as well. Oh yeah, what is that restaurant off of S. Washington right by the railroad tracks at the edge of town, down the street from where Roaches, err Coaches used to be? Oh yeah, I think it is called the Country Pride. Well, that place sucks too. People have raved about how good that place is for years, but the food I have had there has always been disgusting.

We went again and yet again those dumb sum beaches messed up an order. AGAIN!! NO one in lobby. We show up we order. More people show and they start getting food before we do. Finally after 45 minutes our pizza comes and was not cooked well. I go back with my song and dance. They explained that they were trying not to burn anymore pizzas. So I guess mine was teh 1st to burn and they never told me. So manager lady is listening to me. Another girl says I will talk to him he is my table. She did not even know lady talking to me was the boss and they both got into a discussion in front of me. I said I aint paying girls have a nice night. |

Country Pride is pretty bad. I can't believe they got like 2nd place in the city for their chicken fried steak is the latest AGN's Best of Amarillo. But the again, the readership of the AGN is pretty old. Although the CFS is big, its basically a preformed breaded patty out of a frozen box. Heck even DQ's steak fingers are better quality. Everything tastes so bland there. Thats why the place is packed full of old people, because they like bland food. Their tortilla chips taste like they are out of a bag, and the salsa is the flavor and consistency of spicy ketchup. They haven't updated the decor since the 70's with all the wood paneling. Even when you are in the non-smoking section, the smoke still fills the room.....I could go on and on.........

I'm having a hard time thinking of THE worst restaurant. There are several that I would nominate though:
La Fiesta Grande - I don't think this is the worst restaurant, necessarily, but some of the worst mexican food IMO
Furrs Buffet - this was pure slop. I felt like I was paying to eat dog food and having to fight my way to get it.
Zoochini's - I think I ordered the wrong thing there, but that was perhaps one of the worst meals for which I've agreed to tender funds.
Maddie's Madhouse Cafe - Shoulda stayed in Borger w/ less competition.
Any BBQ place (except Fatboys)
Pacific Rim - They lost me at dinner rolls

I've never been there but the last time my husband went there, he told me "Don't!" I think his stomach hurt for days.

Recently went to Red Robin's with a group...
and while the other's got food that was acceptable...
2 of us guys ordered burgers...and got processed hamburger patties...that had obviously been thawed out of the freezer.
The burgers were just warm...and a processed patty is unacceptable in a restaurant like that...at that price.
