Red Robin is nothing special. I don't know how that chain has been able to expand like they have.
How could I forget Furr's? We used to say Furr's stood for Fat, Ugly, something something. I can't remember this early yet.
I have never been in Zoochini's, but it's nice to know I'm not missing anything.

Musta-- "Here are some lovely dinner rolls and country crock artificial butter spread to go with your hip fusion cuisine." Also, it cracks me up that they have a Philly cheesesteak-- It's not the Atlantic Rim.

Musta-- "Here are some lovely dinner rolls and thingyry crock artificial butter spread to go with your hip fusion cuisine." Also, it cracks me up that they have a Philly cheesesteak-- It's not the Atlantic Rim. Adventurous Fusion Cuisine Patron: "What do you recommend?" Waiter: "Well, tonight we have a Turkey & Brie sandwich which would go lovely w/ our famous chow mein of chicken." Adventurous Fusion Cuisine Patron: "That sounds incredible, this must be REAL fusion quisine. Can you also bring us some more of these sub-par dried-out store-bought dinner rolls w/ the fake butter?" Waiter: "Sure, we'll just run back over to the Mrs. Baird's outlet and pick some more up for you. Also, be thinking of desert. Tonight, our chef has prepared an incredible sweet & sour shrimp-brulee. We pair this up some ice water fresh from the tap. Save room!"

I would have to go with Applebee's. They had shut down their grill for cleaning, this was about 1:30 in the afternoon. I thought that was kind of odd. The next time we went, dh ordered a steak, and got gristle instead. We have decided to stop torturing ourselves with that place.
Dh doesn't like Hoffbrau-food and service both terrible, Ruby Tequila's--food good, but the service is horrible, our waitress actually sat down at the next table to visit with friends, Benigan's--food and service bad, and last but not least is Cracker Barrel--service is non-existent.

The last few months, I've been to Amarillo a few times. I ate at Zookini's the first time, but just the salad bar and it was great! The second time I went to Applebee's and had the talapia, which was wonderful. This last time, I was at Ruby Tequilas on Paramount, and the food AND service were just great! I don't know, maybe it was the company I was with .....I have no problems with any of these places.☺

Haven't you been to Ruby Tequila's a couple of times the last few months? Maybe the margaritas make you forgetful.

Last time I went to Golden Corral (and believe me it was the last time) there was a smashed fly on the wall abutting my table. Mixed in with the other, slightly less horrendous grime.

Amen dude...
Golden Corral is nasty...and probably the last time I was in there...was probably 8 to 10 years ago.
It's sort of like the Albertson's of restaurants in Amarillo...YUCK!

Country Pride is pretty bad. I can't believe they got like 2nd place in the city for their chicken fried steak is the latest AGN's Best of Amarillo. But the again, the readership of the AGN is pretty old. Although the CFS is big, its basically a preformed breaded patty out of a frozen box. Heck even DQ's steak fingers are better quality. Everything tastes so bland there. Thats why the place is packed full of old people, because they like bland food. Their tortilla chips taste like they are out of a bag, and the salsa is the flavor and consistency of spicy ketchup. They haven't updated the decor since the 70's with all the wood paneling. Even when you are in the non-smoking section, the smoke still fills the room.....I could go on and on......... Agreed. I used to work at Tyson/IBP and their CFS's was the same frozen patties (which we produced) that they sell at elementary schools. Yet they got #1 Chicken Fried Steak!!?? It amazes me. Must be a conspiracy. They got Best Salsa? We tried it once and their "mild" tasted like ketchup while their "hot" tasted like Tascosa's Mild sauce (though it wasn't at all hot). Being in the food industry like I am, you have to try the competition and Country Pride doesn't even rank in the Top Ten of Amarillo.

The best feature about Ruby's are the drinks. I am less than impressed with their food.

Enough margaritas and the quality of the food is not that important. Sorry brandy, I think I just gave us away!
