Enough margaritas and the quality of the food is not that important. Sorry brandy, I think I just gave us away! I like Ruby's too! All I need is a bowl of chips, some hot sauce, and a good drink in front of me ... mmmmmm

I have to agree that Ruby's doesn't belong on the "worst" list... however, I certainly wouldn't even be tempted to nominate them for the "best." I think it is your typical run-of-the-mill texmex... they have their good nights and their bad. My 4 year old loves to go there so she can ride the ride out front, and honestly if it weren't for that I probably wouldn't go there.
Lately for Mexican I've been liking Jorge's on 45th and El Bracero on Bell... great little neighborhood joints.
Anyone ever dared to order the food from Chiyo's on Teckla? I can't believe the place is actually open for business considering the condition of the property. I would nominate them for "worst" just based on the curb appeal. I love dives, but that is just pathetic.

Country Pride is pretty bad. <snip> Everything tastes so bland there. Thats why the place is packed full of old people, because they like bland food. <snip> ...I could go on and on......... I ate there ... ONCE ... about 25 years ago. Got the enchiladas and I'll never forget the experience.

I remember Lar saying once on TA...that the Ruby's in Wichita Falls...wasn't getting a lot of business.
He needs to come back...and give us an update...and tell if they are still in business in W.F.

Maybe they use extra virgin olive oil...because we don't Cat's getting a big booty from eating chips.

Well, even if they did use EVOO (which of course they don't) it would yield the exact same amount of fat as any other cooking oil. They most likely use a more flavor neutral / cheaper oil with a higher smoking point such as vegetable or peanut. Fat is Fat... all oils are 14g fat per tbsp. The only difference is the percentage of saturated vs. unsaturated fats. That being said, the saturated stuff is the bad stuff! So, EVOO might still give you a bu-donk-uh-donk donk, but your arteries will be healthier in the long run!

I worked for a major restaurant food supplier in another state. During the time I was there they added about 100,000 square feet of refrigerated cooler space just for frozen foods. I won't go to many chain restaurants because all you get is a nuked frozen entree. I always went to a Red Robin in the other place where I lived and it was a quiet relaxed atmosphere where I always got a good meal. The Red Robin here is the noisiest place I have ever been in, it is apalling how noisy and nerve wracking it is. I refuse t go to Applebees because the name is so over the top campy, and they serve the most frozen & nuked entrees of any chain restaurant.

But...the burgers at Applebee's beat the crap out of the lame flat processed patty burgers at the Amarillo's Dead Robin.
If you get a flat processed burger patty in what is supposed to be a sit-down restaurant...it's a POS operation.
The bacon cheeseburger I had a while back...while eating with others at Dead Robin...was what you'd expect from an elementary school cafeteria.

I would list ever restaurant in Amarillo that doesn't take checks...some of us don't carry wads of cash and hate to use credit cards. ummmm...that's what debit cards are for.
