Smith - Your buns are up! A few weeks ago I finally made my first visit to Buns Over Texas. When they called our name and said "Your buns are up!", I cracked up because it struck me as hilarious! I liked the fact that the condiment bar gave me the option to top my burger with anything I wanted. It was about the closest thing I've come here to a Fuddruckers from that standpoint. And the onion rings, you ask? Yummylicious!

Buns is even on their 2nd location...since they used to be located across the street (34th) in a building that was torn down...when Walgreens was built.

Like, good for you ... so much for offering the opinion of someone who's only lived here for about three years. Way to discourage conversation.

Hey...I was just kidding...and that's why I put the grin face on there.
Also...if you've been here for 3 years...you're not that new to Amarillo...so I'm really surprised it took that long for you to get around to eating there.
Of course there's nothing wrong with cooking at home.

Don’t be discouraged from offering new or even different opinions.
I tend to get in a rut and just go to the same old places. But over time, a lot can change. Is always good to have a new view of what is going on in some of the places I may have passed on. Besides, I am gone so much I can’t keep up without help anyway.

I like Buns over Texas in Lubbock, but I don't think the condiment bar is as good as Fuddrucker's. But, Buns over Texas has honey biscuits...yummmmmm.

Your better off making your own burger at home rather than going to Buns.

I live very close to the Buns at 34th / Bell. I barely notice it on my way to United to pick up ground beef, buns and cheese.

It's not a bad place, really. The burgers are not bad at all. I haven't been there in quite a while because it used to get really crowded at lunch time. In addition, I have been trying to eat healthier over the past 1 1/2 year, and that place really doesn't qualify as healthy eating. Every now and then, I will head down to the Home Plate diner, though, because it is nowhere near as crowded as Buns. Of course, the best burgers (with the exception of those cooked on my grill) are served up out at the Lone Star Bar and Grill, out on the Claude Highway.

Petiepanzer, whats good at Home Plate? I have always wanted to go there, but my wife had a bad experience there, so I've never been "allowed".
I'd also like to ask if anyone has had anything other than the burgers at Buns. Are their ham sandwiches or CFSs anything special?

I like Buns Over Texas, but I haven't been there in a while. The hamburger meat always tasted like real, fresh meat, not like the tasteless crap at the supermarket. (I take that back, sort of... Albertson's has decent meat sometimes.)

Well if everything makes you mad in Amarillo, then GO BACK TO COLORADO!!! Which every Texan here refers to you guys as "our back yard" even though you Coloradoans hate to admit it........... Still, though.....
