Maybe you ordered the wrong thing. Or were with the wrong friends.

Don't know about their new location...but I wasn't really impressed with Country Barn at their I-40 and Lakeside/Loop 335 location. But I know some of that had to do with the last time I ate there...it was a forced department luncheon with the big top company boss. He took each department to lunch every now and then... and he wasn't that bad of a guy...but it was still an awkward situation... and our department boss had just hired a couple of people I did not care for...who kept messing things up...that I had to go in and fix. So they were the very last people I wanted to waste what was usually a quiet lunch hour with. In other words...don't force me to go eat lunch with someone I consider a sub-par professional dufus.

Don't know about their new location...but I wasn't really impressed with Country Barn at their I-40 and Lakeside/Loop 335 location. It's not any better at their new location. My last two visits weren't so great. The first time we waited for 45 minutes for our order while people seated around us after we arrived had been served with their dinners. When our order arrived, mine was room temperature and I sent it back. Thinking it was just a fluke, I wanted barbeque so we went there a short time later. The second time our waitress took our order and after that I said I should go check some milk cartons to see if she had been abducted. I left a two dollar tip for a $35 dollar tab to register my displeasure, along with scratching the place off our list. Amarillo restaurants hire kids and so I'm not going to get too heavy on them for not having professional waiters, but our service has been consistently bad wherever we have gone lately to where now we just expect it and make our choice of an establishment where we can get what we want at the lowest price. Our last visit was to Pizza Hut.

Country barn should not be in the good eats section. Agreed. Like the Big Texan shouldn't. Hell, they don't know how to cook a steak, it's a d**n tourist trap!!!!!!! Everybody, take a census, "How many Amarillo locals have been out to the Big Texan"? Me? Once. That was enough. You figure with a place that much publicity/advertisment/bill boards through the lower southern states should have their act together. They don't. I hate to knock other local businesses, because we all strive for the same thing...business. But the Big Texan insults what is Texas. You want good steaks and BBQ, you go to the Salt Lick, Green Mesquite, or Stubb's in Austin. That's where the good meat is, and if the Lee's at the Big Texan knew that, they would incorporate that into their menu. They don't. It's all about their horse motel, rattlesnakes, and twister museum. And we as Amarillo residents should fight against that. Yeah Bobby Lee might of had a good thing going in the 80's, but this is the 10's fixing to be the 20's. Time to upscale and rearrange.....

In 36 years I been to Big Texan 2 times. Both for deserts. I found the place absoulutley a horrid excuse for anything Texan.
