The score, oh, the score!!! Man, I really enjoyed that game on saturday. Not that going to Lubbock is ever a pleasant experience, but it was so much better seeing my alma mater whip the Yosemite Sam wannabe's in that pathetic excuse for a stadium called Jones. On top of that, the Cornholers lost. I had a permagrin on my face all saturday night. ;D
All kidding aside, it was a good game and I certainly enjoyed myself. I wish Tech luck the rest of the season.
The problem with Tech is that they have placed too much focus on their passing game, to the detriment of every other aspect of their game. They have absolutely no running game and their defense is terrible. Folks, this is the Big 12, not the WAC, the MWC, or the PAC 10. This is the black and blue league, and it always has been. We play a tough, smash mouth brand of power football, not a finesse game. The dominant teams of the old Big 8 were always teams that could move the ball effectively on the ground. The SWC refugees always had success on the ground as well, not through the air. Guys like Barry Sanders, Earl Campbell, and Johnny Rogers, among many others, are a testament to the dominance of the running game in this conference. Even the Texas of 2 years ago didn't win the NC on Vince Young's arm, but on his legs. At various times, people have come in and tried to establish passing offenses in this conference, with varying degrees of limited success. Nebraska's Callahan is going to get shown the door by trying to establish his version of the West Coast offense in the heartland. Tech has had a little more success, but they are never going to win the conference as long as they refuse to establish a running game and continue to ignore their deficiencies on the other side of the football. In fact, I will take it one step further and say that no team is ever going to win a Big 12 title game by loading up on the passing game, but ignoring their running game and their defense. The wear and tear of the Big 12 conference is going to catch up with a finesse team by season's end . That's just the way it is in this conference.

IMO, the talent pool of Tech continues to get better each year. Agreed, I went there in the late 80's and early 90's and we had talents then. Spike d**es was FB coach and Gerald Myers was basketball coach. Now we've got Leach and Bobby Knight, I think now the Tech Athletic program might be actually serious about sports now. /Tech has always been underrated //we'll keep getting better /// watch out UT!!!!

hey petiepanzie or whatever your name is.....that tech offense you keep doggin on just beat the crap out of OU and has won 8 games this year. It is also the sole reason for tech being the MOST consistent team in the big 12. So just because Tech doesnt have much of a run game doesnt mean they cant hold their own in the conference. Yes the Big 12 is a "black and blue" run the ball conference, but dont act like Colorado is the best at it. You lost to Iowa State!!! All credibility you once had just got thrown out the window...Tech's only embarassing loss this year was....Colorado! And I hope you enjoyed the luck you had this year....the whole conference better watch out for Tech next year! the "Great Wall of Lubbock" is returning and so is the best gunslinger in the land, Graham Harrell. Texas is coming to Lubbock, we've already proven we can beat OU, and the aggies are irrelevant...as always.
WRECK 'EM TECH!!!!

Texas is coming to Lubbock, we've already proven we can beat OU, and the aggies are irrelevant...as always. WRECK 'EM TECH!!!! Yawn Falconfan, you obviously have a lot to learn about college football. a)Wow, Tech won 8 games this year. Man, that is awesome. Of course, 4 of those games were in nonconference play. So, just who were these world beaters that Tech managed to knock off in non-conference play? SMU? UTEP? Rice? Northwestern State? Where is the South Dakota school for the Deaf and Blind? That is 3 Conference USA schools and a mighty I-AA school from the Southland conference. Those are 3 non-BCS schools that are consistently bad and a school in a lower classification. It would be an embarrassment for ANY BCS school to play a non-conference schedule like that and fail to go undefeated. Seriously, I haven't seen that many cupcakes since my first grade Valentine's party. I'm a little surprised that you said the CU game was Texas Technical's worst game. I thought they played pretty bad when they gave up 49 to Okie State. Now, let's break down their conference record. They went 4-4 this year in conference play, which is the same as my beloved Buffs. Of course, we had to play in the North Division, which was much tougher this year than the Big 12 South. We also managed to go 3-0 against the B12 south this year, which included....a win......in Lubbock. Advantage: CU. b) Luckily for Tech, we don't play them next year or they would be in for another beating for the 3rd year in a row. This is only our second year under Hawkins. Wait until he gets all of his players in under his system. Right now, there are still quite a few of Barnett's players in there. Remember, he was the coach that put together the Boise State team that knocked off Oklahoma last season. If he can assemble all of that talent at a mid-major like Boise State, what do you think he is going to accomplish at a national university like CU? Say what you want about Cody Hawkins, but he is playing every bit as much talent as McCoy, Bradford or Harrell. You act like Colorado has never accomplished anything, but we have 26 conference and a national championship in football that says otherwise. How many conference championships has Tech won? They haven't even made it to a championship game since joining our conference. Even in the SWC, which was consistently a much weaker conference than the Big 8, they could never win the conference outright. They have never had a player win the Heisman, either. c) If you mean mediocre when you say consistent, then I would have to agree with you. Has Tech ever finished above 3rd in the B12 south, behind Oklahoma and Texas? Since we took in the SWC refugees, has Tech ever managed to advance to the championship game? The answer is a resounding no. Now, going back all the way to the formation of the league, can you name me one team that has ever won the Big 8/Big 12 conference by abandoning the running game? How about by abandoning defense? I have been following this conference since long before the 4 little SWC orphans came calling, and I can tell you that the answer is absolutely not. Back in the day, OU and Nebraska always duked it out with one running the Wishbone option and the other running the Power I option. Colorado won their NC when Darian Hagan ran a strong, ground oriented attack as well. All of them also had very tough defenses as well. If your goal is to win 4 non-conference games and go .500 in league play, then by all means continue to play the type of football you are playing. There won't be any conference championships or BCS games with that type of a game plan, though. What is Tech going to do if Leach goes to UCLA? I don't think they can compete with the Bruins if they make him an offer?

And what bowl game do you guys have? Oh that's right! The PetroSun Independence Bowl!!! Versus Alabama? Are they ranked?? Didn't think so. You finished up 6-6 and us 8-4. We're going to the Gator Bowl to beat #20 Virginia. One of the oldest bowls there is. Against a ranked team. Any more comments petie?

This was only the 2nd year under Hawkins, and with a freshman QB. They will win the Big 12 before he graduates.

I have a cousin who wants to start on an MBA at CU-Boulder... but he's from the Texas Panhandle...and says he doesn't give a rat's ass about the CU Buffs. Any time the Red Raiders put it to CU or Nebrasker Beanhuskers or the Zero-U Sooner-or-Laters...it's cool.
