Got question to ask about stop lights I'm having the ***** time trying to figure out how to drive down here. Ok, here's my problem. Your at 45th and Soncy in the far left hand lane to turn left unto soncy, your facing Academy place and a car dealer place, hope, that pin points the area in question. Ok, so you look up there is a red light and also a green arrow saying you can turn, so, why is that red light on is it legal to turn left or not? arrow says 'turn' why is there 2 lights pertaining to the left hand lane. You got one light on red, light next to that is the green arrow pointing left. My husband went ahead and turned and of course there is a camera up there watching U if we don't get a slew of tickets in the mail it will be by God's grace. up in Ind there is no d**n cameras and arrow telling U when to go period not a choice down here it's like it's multiple choice or something. Thanks for all your help. woman in here laughed at me for being stressed out in driving, but, we really have no clue about the status of the confusing lights down here every time I approach an intersection I pray it's on green so I won't have to 2nd guess. I think it's legal to turn on red as long as there is so sign saying "no turn on red". One day I sit and waited to be on the safe side for the right hand lane light to turn green, but, the guy behind me layed on the horn and saluted me, so, I guess it's Ok to turn right on red. Help ! It is legal to turn right on red if there is no sign stating otherwise. Of course, you do need to stop and ascertain that there is no traffic coming. I'm not sure about the left lane light you are talking about. I have gotten very irritated in Lubbock because the city decided to change our lights and now many of them have left turn only when the left arrow is on. I think it just depends on the intersection. The guy saluting you was probably just W-T waving hi.

The red light was probably for through traffic.

He heard that I was making a trip up yesterday and had to lay low. Someone should tell him that I'm back home now, so the roads are safe again.

If you have a green arrow pointing left you have the right of way to make a left turn. The red light is for through traffic. I have a question about a green light for the through traffic and a red left turn arrow with no oncoming traffic to present a hazard for making a left turn. Since the through traffic has a green light, can I make a left turn on red? I've seen it done and also heard it is a moving violation. The cameras are for regulating the flow of traffic unless otherwise posted that it is an intersection watched by the one eyed tax collector.
What infuriates me is when I want to turn right onto Soncy and the through traffic has the red, but there is a bright green arrow pointing right and the oblivious numbskull in front of me sits there like a bag of hammers not moving.
I think it was George Carlin who said "Anyone driving slower than me is an idiot, and anyone driving faster than me is a maniac."

If the left turn arrow is red, it is a moving violation to turn. I wish they would do away with that and let you turn if there is no oncoming traffic.

big article in today's Amarillo Globe News about the lights. I hope if Austin does away with them , so, will other cities. They said they're a big cash cow and Amarillo, alone, has bought in a million in revenue, so, there's your answer. The little poops will be around for a long while looks like. I don't run lights, I'm to cautious, I'm just afraid of slowing down and slamming on my brakes and the guy behind me thinks I'm going to try and beat the light and he speeds up and slams into my car. I don't want to be in a wheelchair rest of my life.

Turning right on red or left from a one way street onto a one way street is your option, if you want to wait then do so, the guy behind can just suck it.
